Field Trip: Library Scavenger Hunt

This morning the RCHA students were at the Russell County Public Library for some learning and fun!

The wonderful library staff took the students through Library 101 and then we went exploring.

Checking out the genealogy department.

Audio books and DVDs. Definitely a hot spot at the library!

Technology Center with Ms. Kim

Ms. Kim and Ms. Glenda were great tour guides!
After we finished upstairs we headed to the Children's Library where Ms. Fill taught the students about the Dewey Decimal System.

Such good listeners!

"Who likes books about space?"

After a lot of great instruction it was time to put their skills to the test.  Ms. Fill sent each student on a quest to find a particular book.

Searching!

There it is!
The students did a great job and proved that they know how to use the Dewey Decimal System to find just the right book.

After the scavenger hunt we joined Ms. Kim in the Community Room for a game of Jeopardy.

Ms. Kim explains the rules.

There were two categories: Library Rules and Library Etiquette

The Blue Team

The Yellow Team

The game was very close! The Blue Team won today's game, but they all proved their knowledge and skill.  Great job, kids!

After the game, the students checked out books and each child received a tote back full of goodies from the fantastic library staff.

Thank you to all those who work at the Russell County Public Library! You work so hard and our kids LOVE to see you each week.  Thank you for your dedication to the students of Russell County! A big thank you to Ms. Kim, Ms. Glenda, and Ms. Fill who made today's field trip possible.
You ladies are the best!
